For example, we may want a certain number of clients so we can grow our business to help others and make a good income at it. But if we forget our own power, our results will not match our desires.
And we can get frustrated and ask—why not me? Why don’t I see the results I want in my business? It’s because we feel that we’re not worth it. Maybe we feel inferior—that killer of dreams, comparison-itis, is insidious and destructive.
For Some Of Us, Only One Really Works, And It May Not Be The One You Think
I was just in a wonderful conversation with my friend Linda Joy yesterday, and she asked: When can we know we are in our zone of magic and wonder, or we’re not? (Sorry if I can’t remember your exact words Linda; I think the gist of it is there.)
It’s not complicated at all.
The basic formula is simple. If what I’m doing feels good, and if it comes from love, I am in my heart-space. When I am in that space, magic happens. I am inspired, I am having fun (yes, we really CAN have fun when working!), and things flow with ease and grace.
When I’m in my head-space, I am trying to “figure things
out”. That NEVER works for me. I don’t know about you.
Is “working hard” the best way?
When we strive to “work hard” and close off our hearts, we tend to work from a place of lack, limitation and fear. And if we want to attract more positive things into our lives like success, joy, freedom, fun, etc.….Needless to say, that isn’t the way to do it.
When work doesn’t feel good, it’s tough to get the results we want. I have literally gotten headaches from staying stuck in my head and closing off my heart.
A new way to work
It has taken YEARS (decades, really) to shift gears from the old programming of “working hard”—as if there is some medal or reward to be earned from that—to a new mode of work. A place where I am getting stuff done, yet it is fun and joyful. As a heart-centered entrepreneur, I am grateful to know that and claim it. When we are heart-centered and learn to operate from this heart-space mode, the most amazing things happen.
Events unfold with so much love and light. Opportunities come along to grow business-wise and personally. I have met the most amazing, loving, kind people in this way, and my business literally flows with ease and grace.
There is always a choice. Which path do you choose?
So often in life, we tend to get stuck in not getting what we want. The #LawOfAttraction is indeed powerful. However, just sitting and visualizing is not the whole story here.
There have been books and videos providing wonderful, uplifting paths to using the Law of Attraction. However, they sometimes miss one key aspect. Though we can wish really hard, pray ceaselessly, or visualize or meditate about what we want, none of these things will come to pass without doing one vitally important thing:
The last letters of Attraction are #ACTION. Waiting for something else or someone else to come along and change our lives will NOT do it.
What kind of action is needed to use the Law of Attraction?
Even imperfect action helps us move down the path towards getting what we want. We can always learn and change course if needed. Positive visualizations, raising our vibrations, AND action are the keys. This way the Universe gets a clear message that you mean business.
What Is Aligned Action?
Aligned action, which is action that feels right to us, is often the best way to manifest what we want. Manifestation can occur powerfully and, in some cases, quickly with decisive action taken at a high vibration: with enthusiasm, surrender to the results and joy.
By surrendering the results of our aligned action, we loosen our grip on how exactly we want it to play out—so that we may get something even better than we wanted!
How can surrender help with our intentions and goals?
When we set our intentions, we can say something like: “I am taking action on this because I would like (for example) to make $1,000 more per month in my business or something better. Another example: “I am taking action on this because I would like 5 more clients this month or more.“
Surrender doesn’t mean we’re giving up altogether on our goals or intentions. It makes things more fun. When we have too tight of a grip rather than taking aligned, relaxed action, we are sending an unconscious signal to the Universe: “I do not believe this will happen for me.”
Aligned, positive action, along with surrender around the results (including patience: a whole other blog topic), will help us use the Law of Attraction in a way that works! *How will YOU take positive action today?*

Imagine knowing for most of your life that you don’t need to drink alcohol, eat fattening, sugary foods, or use a medication to feel better. Many people go through their entire lives and don’t know this.
Not every situation is the same…
Of course there are chemical imbalances that need medication like depression or anxiety that need to be treated by a professional. There are also people that become addicted to alcohol and drugs; they also need professional help. Those situations are not what this blog post is talking about.
Too often we look to other people, places and things to make us feel better. What we need to understand is that there IS nothing that can change our mood or state of being that is outside of ourselves.
There is another way.
Why do we look outside ourselves? Is it because we have been conditioned to do so? What if we were taught emotional intelligence in school instead as children?
There is a great book, called Emotional Intelligence 2.0 by Travis Bradberry and Jean Greaves, that really explains the concept of emotional intelligence beautifully. It also has ways that we can improve our own EQ, the emotional version of IQ. It can be found online here: https://amzn.to/2JnZzNO
(I am not getting paid to promote this book. I just really like it. Time for me to reread it!)
We can bring in healthy behaviors like using positive affirmations, meditation, yoga, food, water or tea. Music can be a great way to feel better too. The difference is whether what we choose adds to our happiness and wellness or subtracts from them.
The bottom line here is that we do not NEED to go for unhealthy people, place and things to help us escape from the way we are feeling. That will ultimately make our situation worse, not better.
What happens when we look within?
When we learn how to rely on ourselves more to improve our mood or state of being, two things happen:
We no longer have to wait for someone (something) to come rescue us. We can rescue ourselves!
Our level of self-esteem rises. We know that we are strong and resourceful enough to raise our energetic and emotional vibrations and help ourselves feel better!
This can also help us if we have a business. Although having a coach is often vital to the success of our business, we don’t have to wait for someone else to validate what we are doing. By taking good care of ourselves, we can be creative, resourceful and energetic—which will benefit our business as well!
Having what we need is within our own grasp.
It is so liberating when we understand that we can give ourselves what we need by going within. This isn’t to say that we need to isolate. But imagine the freedom of not needing anyone or anything else to change how we feel!
As we celebrate a holiday weekend here in the US, it’s a great time to relax and take some time off.
For those of us who are fortunate enough to love what we do, it can be a bit of a struggle to turn the old brain off and just relax. However, it is often necessary so we can avoid burnout.
HuffPost Business says, “According to a new study published in the Journal of Management, there is a significant difference between being engaged at work and being addicted to it. While the former is characterized by hard work because the worker is passionate about the job, the latter is often motivated by negative feelings like guilt and compulsion.” (Source: http://bit.ly/2XqpVYc )
After all, what’s the point of being our own boss if we’re still in the self-imposed shackles of our business?
Scheduling time off in our calendar can make the difference between saying, “I’ve gotta take some time off” and actually doing it!
Do you have experience with this bit of workaholism? If so, what do you do about it?
This can often include asking for others’ opinions and/or watching for others’ reactions to what we say and do. Sometimes in our looking outside ourselves, we can even go to extremes— like changing our own viewpoints to please others or not standing up for what we believe in due to fear of rejection.
